Serving Our Church

Adults

From the early years of college and career to the golden years of work and retirement, we seek to meet the needs of all our adults. We develop ministries suited generally for all adults as well as specifically to ages, genders, and shared experiences. Small groups, Bible studies, activities, and programs include just a few of the means by which our adults connect to each other and to God.

Bible Study

Redeemer offers many opportunities for Bible study. Listed here are many of the regular groups meeting, and you may also see calendar for specific days and times.

Prayer

In addition to prayer in our worship services, we encourage many other ways to participate in prayer.
Opportunities for prayer include:

Email Prayer Team

This group intercedes on behalf of others. Prayer requests are sent out once or twice daily via email. You may be a recipient, or volunteer to help coordinate the prayer team.

Altar Prayer Ministers

Several prayer ministers are always available to pray with people following the morning worship service. Training course is offered as announced.

School of Prayer

A course of encouragement in prayer is offered to our congregation to teach us about prayer. This course is offered as announced.

To learn more about prayer ministries or to volunteer, contact Mary.

Worship

We worship together at 9:00 and 10:30 am each Sunday. Redeemer is a multicultural church with a heart for missions, offering a blend of contemporary and traditional worship, featuring music from today as well as hymns from yesterday. Inspired preaching and teaching touches on all aspects of our lives as we seek to live out our daily Christian walk.

Opportunities to Serve

Computer Tech Team
This group prepares and/or presents the slides for Sunday morning worship.

Sound Tech Team
This team runs our sound board and lights during worship services and special events. Some experience with music and/or sound is helpful, but not necessary.

Ushers
Ushers assist in worship by distributing bulletins and friendship pads, greeting and guiding worshippers, and receiving the offering.

Greeters
These friendly persons welcome worshippers to our church each Sunday morning at the main doors and in the foyer. They also assist in guiding visitors.

Communion Preparation
This team helps with the preparation and cleanup of communion on the first Sunday of each month, and at other special services where communion is served.

Banana Bread
First time visitors near the church are welcomed with homemade banana bread. We have volunteers who provide us with freshly baked banana bread and others who deliver the bread to our visitors.

Seasonal Décor
This group oversees and participates in the decoration of the church during the major holiday seasons.

Welcome Center
These volunteers help by either staffing the welcome center or by helping to organize the center.

If you have an interest in serving in one of these ministries, contact Terri.

Administration

There are several areas of administrative ministry in which we welcome volunteers to be a part. Opportunities to serve are:

Bulletin Volunteer

These persons assist in the weekly folding and inserting of our church bulletins in preparation for service. This is done on a monthly rotational schedule. Traditionally many of our “Goldtimers” have been involved in this ministry.

Library Volunteer

Our librarians oversee the upkeep and maintenance of the church library. They receive and process new incoming books, and on a rotational schedule help persons in checking out books and research in the library.

Finance Team

The finance team is composed of the Finance Chairperson (also a Session member), the Finance Administrator, Church Treasurer, a representative from the personnel team, and other members who have volunteered to be a part of this team. Their primary function is to:

Personnel Team

Our personnel team includes officers of the church and other members who have volunteered to be a part of this team. They assist in making church personnel recommendations to the session regarding employment, benefits, compensation, personnel policies, and anything else concerning church personnel.

If you have an interest in serving in one of these ministries, contact Vicki.

Family Life Ministry

At the heart of our church family life is food and fellowship. We have many opportunities for church meals throughout the year, including mission dinners, picnics, all church banquets, receptions, etc. Our wonderful volunteers oversee these events, including planning, purchasing, cooking, serving, and cleaning up. Anyone who would like to help in this area may contact Terri.

Recreation

Small Groups

One of the best ways to grow in our faith is to be connected to a small group. Deep authentic friendships formed in small groups offer us support, encouragement, and accountability. We are free to explore our faith together and study God’s word in a safe and confidential place. Beyond that, small groups are a place to relax, laugh, and have a good time. Redeemer has a variety of small groups. There are co-ed groups, men’s groups, and women’s groups meeting at the church and in homes. If you are interested in becoming a part of a small group or want more information, contact Terri.

Goldtimers

“Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.” Proverbs 16:31 This fellowship group of those 55+ encourage people to look forward to their later years of life as an opportunity to redirect energies and reinvest life in new directions, rather than simply a time to retire. This group meets on the second Thursday of each month for lunch and a program. Some events are at locations away from the church. Many interesting topics are presented, and the food and fellowship with this group is the “cream of the crop.” To find out more information, contact Terri.

Women

Women at Redeemer are blessed to enjoy a special bond with each other as they serve and fellowship. Several weekly Bible studies are held throughout the week during the school year, and our Sunday School program includes a class for women also.  Many ladies enjoy the book club which meets monthly in homes, and others like the game nights and other special events throughout the year. A highlight of the year is the ladies retreat which is usually held in October. Our women are very involved in caring, leading, teaching, reaching, planning, worship, prayer and fellowship. To find out more about current planned activities, see announcements. To find out how to connect to our women’s ministries, contact Terri.

Men

Our men also are blessed with fellowship and opportunities for service. They have several ongoing Bible studies and a class for men on Sunday mornings. Every other month they have a breakfast, which they plan, cook and enjoy. They also lead our church softball team each spring. Other activities and areas of service include picnics, golf, bowling, rafting, sports events, church workdays, planning, cooking, eating, cleaning, praying, teaching and leading. To find out more about current planned activities, see announcements. To find out how to connect to our men’s ministries, contact Terri.
