Church Ministries

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is probably one of the best-known ministries in the world. Our members have often expressed interest in getting hands-on experience in building a Habitat home. In the fall of 2001, we will be tackling a project.

Rex & Jean Lieffers

Rex & Jean Lieffers accepted the call in 1985 to join Wycliffe Bible Translators. Their son, Ryan, serves with them in the Philippines, while son Scott is at GA Tech. Rex is Associate Director of Human Resources for Wycliffe and Jean serves on the Faith Academy (school) Board of Trustees.

Carl & Heidi Walton

Carl & Heidi Walton serve with OMS International in England. Carl is the treasurer for OMS United Kingdom and assists the Evangelical Church of India with their financial needs. Heidi is an administrator for OMS.

Eddie & Grace Miller

Eddie & Grace Miller serve with Teen Challenge Jamaica. As missionary children themselves, they literally bring a lifetime of experience to their new role of launching a home for young ladies involved in drugs and prostitution. They are establishing a one-year, residence program designed to transform these young lives through the love of the Jesus Christ.

Jason & Barb Henry

Jason & Barb Henry are with International Missions in Tosontsengal, Mongolia. They live among the people, farm, mentor, and lead a Bible study seeking every opportunity to share the Gospel of Christ in an up-close and personal way.

Ian & Hilary Currey

Ian & Hilary Currey are with Operation Mobilization. Ian, from England, is a Video Producer. Hilary, from Ireland is a full-time mom, taking care of their boys Corey and Cody. Of eighteen years with OM, eight were on board the OM's ships. Ian and Hilary returned to England in May 2001, and continue to serve with OM.

Ron & Mae Ellen Ehrenberg

Ron & Mae Ellen Ehrenberg serve with Global Focus generating awareness, prayer, and financial support for world missions. They greatly leverage every dollar given to Global Focus into many more dollars by the time it reaches the mission field. Ron and Mae Ellen have been good and faithful mission servants for 39 years!

Paul & Maggie Frank

Paul & Maggie Frank, both University of GA graduates, served Wycliffe many years in Colombia, where Paul was the Director of Wycliffe translation work. Paul has a Ph.D. in linguistics and Maggie does desktop publishing. Their new assignment takes them to the Wycliffe Training Institute in Dallas, where Paul is the VP of Academic Affairs.

Ben Mathes

Ben Mathes founded and serves as President of Rivers of the World. ROW navigates the world's major rivers to access remote areas and then sends follow-up health care, educational, and evangelism teams. People in Africa, South America, and Asia have been the recipients of ROW's special blend of ministry, service projects, short-term mission trips, and love.

Linda Langstraat

Linda Langstraat has served in the downtown Atlanta area for over 23 years as the Founder and Director of Adopt-a-Grandparent, a partner of FCS Urban Ministries. Linda’s volunteers “adopt” senior citizens in the Grant Park area as a way of building relationships and spreading Christ’s love. Over 450 seniors have participated over the years, with more than 90 currently being served through various programs.

Nard & Sandy Pugyao

Nard & Sandy Pugyao serve with Jungle Aviation and Radio Services (JAARS), a division of Wycliffe Bible Translators. Nard trains missionary pilots and recruits for JAARS. A native of the Philippines, Nard, through the work of missionaries, converted to Christ in his home country. In the Spring of 2001, Nard led several short term mission teams who built an airstrip and housing for a missionary in his native village of Digbayat.

Don & Sue Hankins

Don & Sue Hankins, former members of Redeemer, now serve in the national office for the Navigators Military Ministry in a logistics and support role in Colorado Springs. Don’s ministry serves U.S. military personnel and their families locally and throughout the world.

Haggai Institute

The Haggai Institute, where Redeemer’s John Sharp is in the development department, conducts a unique ministry growing and training Christian leaders. Haggai reaches many countries, especially in Asia, Africa, and South America. Gifted and determined Christian leaders are trained in Singapore, then return to evangelize and plant churches in their native countries.

Missionary Scholarship Fund

Missionary Scholarship Fund was established to assist young people in our congregation who are called to prepare for missionary service or fulltime ministry. We currently (2002) have three students in college and seminary who are benefiting from this scholarship fund.

Project Faith Disability

Project Faith Disability reaches out to people who have neurological impairment such as Cerebral Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis, Lou Gehrig's Disease, Muscular Dystrophy, strokes, head injuries, and spinal cord injuries. Project Faith ministers to the special needs people in their homes, hospitals, and on their new Church Farm in Dacula. They offer comfort, support, dignity, and hope. Bible study and Christian witness are a significant part of the formula. Peter Marshall is the Program Director.

Johan Gous

Johan Gous is the Director for African operations for Christian Aid Mission. The first funds provided by Redeemer were utilized to try to locate three missing CAM workers and evangelists who had not been heard from in war-torn Congo. With the challenges of AIDS, civil war, ethnic cleansing, and foundering governments, Africa needs to be a strong area of focus for the Gospel.

Barry & Cathy Cox

Barry & Cathy Cox now serve with Gospel for Asia after spending 17 years at Thornwell Orphanage where Barry taught Social Studies, served 10 years as Athletic Director, and coached several sports including football, as the head coach for all 17 years. In the fall of 2001 they joined the staff of Gospel for Asia where Barry is in charge of publications and production. Cathy home schools their five children. They live in Carrollton, TX.

Haiti Fund

The Haiti Fund was launched by Frances Landers, a lay leader in Rev. Byerly's past church in Arkansas. Educational programs are provided through local schools at a cost of only $55 per year per child. This ministry operates under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church USA.

Woody & Beverly Baker

Woody & Beverly Baker made their decision to serve as fulltime missionaries during the 2001 Redeemer Missions Conference. Our constant prayer is that once again one of our own would be called up to service. The Lord hears. The Lord answers. The Bakers have now completed phase 1 of their training and will move to Dallas for further training in July 2002, before going overseas in October of 2002.

Jim & Jeanne Leamer

Jim & Jeanne Leamer, members of Redeemer, are with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Jim is on the technology staff and also conducts Technology in Missions and Translation workshops around the U.S. on college campuses.

Gospel of Glory

Gospel of Glory, founded by Dr. Alemu Beeftu and his wife Genet (speakers during Mission Conference 2001), trains pastors, businessmen, and politicians in developing countries. They serve Christian leaders in more than a dozen developing countries, Brazil, and the U.S.

Redeemer School Scholarships

Redeemer School Scholarships supplement the preschool budget to allow the preschool to serve as an outreach of this congregation, enabling financially strained families to send their children to our preschool. "Let the children come to me, and do not hinder them; for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven." Matthew 19: 14.
