Stephen Ministry

Church Ministries

Since 2001 Redeemer has commissioned four classes of Stephen Ministers. These lay people have received over fifty hours of instruction and have dedicated themselves for at least 2 years of service to this caring ministry.
Are you in need of a caring, Christian friend who will listen, empathize, encourage, pray, provide confidential care, and patiently support you as you work through a crisis or difficult time? Do you know someone who could benefit from this type of care? Then perhaps you may need Stephen Ministry.

What is Stephen Ministry?

A gift from God - a Christ-centered caring ministry program by which He heals His people. Many in our own congregation have been receiving care from a Stephen Minister during the 5 years that we have had this ministry.

Who are Stephen Ministers?

They are people from our own congregation who have been called into this ministry. They receive 50 hours of training in how to provide distinctively Christian care. Following training they meet twice a month to received continuing education and lift up and encourage each other in a structured small group setting. They are trustworthy confidants who will keep everything you say - and even your identify - confidential. They focus on your needs, will meet with you on a regular basis for as long as necessary and will pray for you. They do not cure you for that is the Lord's work. Most importantly, Stephen Ministers will show up and be there just for you.

Stephen Ministry is under the direction of the Stephen Leaders who have received 50 hours of training at a Leaders Training Course. Mary Cooper, Kathy Calvin, Dawn McJenkin and Jim and Selena Kirkpatrick are the Leadership Team for your Stephen Ministry. See any of them --  or one of the pastors --  if you think that you or a loved one may be in need of a Stephen Minister.
