Christmas at Redeemer
Christmas at Redeemer is special; from the inspiring “advent” sermons and music during Sunday morning worship, to the other church and small group fellowship events. Some years may feature an adult or children’s musical, and many Christmas’s have featured a live nativity; a one night outdoor event that is free to the community and all who attend.
The Live Nativity for 2009 was postponed a week due to inclement weather, but was finally presented with joy on December 20. Guests were treated to Christmas music in our sanctuary as they waited for their group to begin the journey. The first stop was a home setting indoors that featured a Christmas story for all ages. Then each group was led by a shepherd guide through the various parts of the story of Christ’s coming as they viewed several scenes of the nativity on our church lawn. They enjoyed live animals, Biblical costumes, and warm campfires with marshmallows and hot chocolate as they completed the tour. Many commented how this portrayal brought to life the Biblical story of the first Christmas and made their Christmas more meaningful.
Every year we host a candlelight communion service on Christmas Eve, which is open to the entire community as well. Services are at 6:00 pm and 10:00 pm, with childcare provided at the 6:00 service only.
